The Chicago River
The Chicago River is the coolest thing ever! In 1900, the Sanitary District of Chicago completely reversed the flow of the river using a series of canal locks. Also, ever year, on St. Patrick's Day, the Chicago River is dyed green! Crazy! Apparently, "the idea of dyeing the Chicago River green originally came about by accident when a group of plumbers were using fluorescein dye to trace illegal substances that were polluting the river".

Time Person Of The Year
It's generally viewed that being named Time Person Of The Year is a dignified, well-respected honor. But, few know that communist dictator Joseph Stalin was named Time Man Of The Year not once, but twice.

Even Hitler won in 1938. His issue is the only one not to picture the person selected on the cover. I can't believe that a well-known magazine, like Time, would honor somebody who killed millions of innocent people. I'm just a little bit mad.

Here are some of my favorite issues.

That's right! I've been named 2006 Time Person Of The Year!

This issue is titled 1966 Time People Of The Year: The Generation Twenty-Five And Under, referring to the Baby Boomers

1993 Time People Of The Year: The Peacemakers, Yasser Arafat, F.W. de Klerk, Nelson Mandela, and Yitzhak Rabin

My political science teacher, Mr. Vargish, looks exactly like somebody. I can't put my finger on it. Gosh, if only I could remember.

Johann Bode
Start off with these numbers
0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48, 96, 192, 384
Now, add 4 to each
4, 7, 10, 16, 28, 52, 100, 196, 388
Now, divide by 10
Mercury - .4
Venus - .7
Earth - 1.0
Asteroid Belt - 1.6
Mars - 2.8
Jupiter - 5.2
Saturn - 10.0
Uranus - 19.6
Neptune - 38.8
In 1764, when no means of precise measuring were available, Johann Bode discovered that arranging numbers in the manner done so above produces a ratio of the distances from each planet to the Sun. Further, when he published the idea, the asteroid belt had not been discovered. As we all know, however, the Asteroid Belt exists, today, and fits into the ratio system perfectly.
Later, the exact distance from the Sun to the Earth was found to be 1.5 e(11) meters. The distances from each planet to the Sun were also found. Indeed, the ratio system and the actual values lined up exactly. The only exception is Uranus' value. However, after considering the relatively small margin of error that occurs for Uranus and how well the rest of the system works, Bode's law still is held accountable and true.

Forced Against My Will

I was violated at the picnic. I told Emily to stop touching my butt, but, because she is so selfish, she kept doing it.
